about
The dance performance "Youth, or the Scenarios According to Which Parents and Children Live", which has already become a sensation of the last ACH theater season and, based on sales in 2023, was recognized by www.bilietai.lt as the most watched dance performance, continues its journey across Lithuania and into the hearts of the audience in the new - anniversary, already 25th theater season. Full auditoriums, tens of thousands of people who have already seen it, always strong emotional reactions from the audience, always sensitive responses and always thunderous ovations - "Youth" does not leave anyone indifferent, deeply touches the heart of the viewer, encourages reflection on relationships with those closest to them.
The performance, whose central thematic axis is the not always simple relationship between parents and children, for the first time has intertwined three dance genres: classical ballet, contemporary-modern dance and street dance. Also, for the first time in the history of the A|CH theater, roles are created on one stage by well-known, experienced masters of the performing arts, ballet soloists, actors, dancers and children aged 13-16, the most talented students of ballet, dance and acting schools, young artists of the ACH theater Junior troupe established in 2022. As they grow rapidly, in the returning "Youth" the second composition of little dancers, carefully prepared by choreographer Anželika Cholina herself, will also embody the children on the big stage.
The plot of the play "Youth" intertwines fragments of the lives of six families and two worlds - children and adults - collide. It is a contrasting psychological tragicomedy, in which the dramas of modern family life are conveyed in the language of dance, to the powerful music of Johann Sebastian Bach.
Speaking about the new dance performance “Youth”, A. Cholina emphasizes: “I have always been interested in approaching the truth about life by exploring various aspects of relationships between people. The relationship between parents and children is the most complex form of communication between people. Families are created mainly in youth, so most people become parents while still children themselves…
This performance is a kind of art therapy session that allows you to look inside family life. With this work, I want to encourage adults to look at children as equal personalities and see the uniqueness they bring to them. I hope that the behavioral patterns of families seen in the performance will make you think and inspire you to change…”
The strong impact of the play "Youth" and its ability to deeply touch the hearts of the audience has also been assessed by research - in an emotion measurement experiment, in which dozens of spectators participated, and their reactions were analyzed by experienced analysts and psychologists, the effect of the play was identified as indisputably strong, transforming, encouraging not only great aesthetic pleasure and joy, but also reflection and self-reflection of the audience about their own relationships with loved ones.
