about
The concert program "Her Music. La musique d'elle" is a dedication to female composers who composed with texts by French poets: the Frenchwomen Cécile Chaminade (1857 – 1944) and Lili Boulanger (1893 – 1918), and to one of the most prominent Lithuanian composers – Onute Narbutaitė (1956).
The concert program, which includes the stylistics of the second half of the 19th century - the 21st century, aims to reveal each composer's unique musical style and rich legacy of vocal-piano music. C. Chaminade - French Romantic composer and pianist, whose work and activities opened the door to the recognition of female composers. Her creative contribution had a great influence on the development of the French salon music tradition. L. Boulanger - French composer, her music is characterized by a synthesis of impressionist and romantic styles, expressive melodies and emotional depth. L. Boulanger was the first female composer to win the prestigious Rome Prize. O. Narbutaitė - contemporary Lithuanian composer, characterized by a subtle, introspective style that explores the texture of sounds and the subtleties of moods. The composer was awarded the National Culture and Art Prize.
The idea for the musical project arose from noticing the lack of performance of works by female composers, especially chamber vocal music. In order to draw attention to the creative legacy of the most prominent Lithuanian, French and German composers and the representation of poverty on both Lithuanian and world stages, we have created this program, the goal of which is to introduce and enrich the horizons of the contemporary listener.
