The film "When I Hug You" will tell the authentic story of a father and daughter separated during World War II. According to the script, most of the action takes place in Berlin two months before the wall that would finally divide the city into two parts rises. Here, a father and daughter living on different sides of the world and the Iron Curtain strive to meet. The residents of a boarding house operating in the city - a German family - flee from West to East Berlin.

The director described the ending of the film as inevitably unhappy. According to him, this is the only ending a film depicting an era when people were manipulated can have.
