about

The opening of the exhibition "The World of Praying Mantises" is on February 8 at 5:00 PM.

The exhibition will be presented by Father Mozė Mitkevičius, Master of Civil Law and Religious Studies, Licentiate in Biblical Theology, who completed his studies in Rome.
The exhibition features over half a thousand sacred miniatures from the late 19th century – the first half of the 20th century.
The exhibition will be open from February 8 to March 30.

During the exhibition presentation, you will get to know priest Moze Mitkevičius and see a collection of sacred miniatures. The exhibition features more than half a thousand religious images, which in the 19th and 20th centuries were called “abrozdėliai” (small icons). Usually, such an image was kept in a prayer book, therefore it is also called a prayer picture.

"These little beads are holy, but not because they depict any saint or blessed one, or Jesus, but because they are covered in prayer. All those beads were in prayer books, held in the hands of people who had seen the most suffering."
The lives of most people were truly difficult. The 19th and 20th centuries were marked by various trials and people held them in their hands and they were extremely precious.” cit. Fr. M. Mitkevičius.
