Kaunas String Quartet, together with accordionist Laimonas Salijus, invites listeners to a real musical adventure – to visit three continents in one hour! The program will open up new musical spaces, where shades of folklore, jazz and contemporary music merge. The main highlight of this musical evening is the first performance in Lithuania of the three-part quintet for accordion and string quartet by the talented US composer and Latin Grammy nominee Sam Reider. This work is full of fresh lightness, refined jazz harmonies and intriguing rhythmic variations.
The program will also feature Heitor Villa-Lobos's String Quartet No. 5, also known as the "Popular Quartet", pulsating with the energetic colors and temperament of Latin America. The performance of Arvydas Malcys' Scherzo from the Concerto for Accordion and String Quartet and Eduardos Balsys's temperamental Habanera will prove that Lithuanian music is also rich in dynamic rhythm and colorful harmonies.
The concert "Between Three Continents: A Journey in Rhythm" is only for music lovers who are not afraid of new discoveries!
