A bit of history:
Nature therapy as a science-based method of health promotion originated in Japan. in 1982 Dr. On the initiative of Qing Li and other scientists, the national "Forest Bathing" health program (Shinrin-yoku) was introduced here. Forest bathing is now a common practice in Japan. More than 60 forest therapy bases are operating in the country, research is being carried out, and projects are being developed. Their goal is to strengthen and maintain connection with the natural world for human and planetary health. The Japanese initiative quickly became popular in Europe and around the world. It is seen as an effective means of strengthening mental and physical health.
Forest therapy, as a scientific method of psychotherapy, came to Lithuania in recent years. It is associated with the popularity of Mindfulness - the psychology of attentive awareness - in our country. Forest or nature therapy uses Mindfulness theory and techniques: learning to focus on the present moment, various experiences, associations, being with yourself and nature. The main practice of Mindfulness is meditation. This is not mysticism or esotericism. In the context of mindfulness, meditation is understood as a personal act of awareness that begins with bodily experiences and extends to the deepest spiritual experiences.
