2025/04/18 Business

On March 27–28, 2025, training was held in Birštonas, organized by the Birštonas Tourism Information Center together with the Elkos City Municipality. During the training, representatives of the tourism sector and public administration of both cities examined the topic of work-from-home: the specifics of remote work, the potential of work-from-home for tourism development, and the economic value for regions.

On the first day of the training, a seminar was held, where lecturer Andrius Kasparavičius, director of the public relations agency "Komunikacija ir konsultantai", presented the trends of remote work, its benefits for employees and organizations, as well as possible risks, and shared his experience. He also discussed the concept of work-from-home and the needs of this tourism market. The seminar topic was continued by travel expert, lecturer at the VU Business School, Dr. Vilija Malinauskaitė, who presented in detail the potential of work-from-home as an opportunity to reduce the seasonality of tourism and increase the competitiveness of regions.
On the second day of the training, study visits were held, during which the hotels "Vytautas Mineral SPA", "Ego SPA", "Lajos", "Resort Stories" apartments, Birštonas Sports and Wellness Center, sanatoriums "Versmė" and "Eglės sanatorija", Birštonas Tourism Information Center, and Birštonas Cultural Center presented their experience and plans.

The delegation of guests from Ełk was led by Vice Mayor Artur Urbański, accompanied by Ula Mikulska, representative of the Sports and Recreation Center, Agnieszka Pietrowicz, head of the Ełk Science and Technology Park, and representatives of other institutions.

The training was organized within the framework of the project No. LTPL00290 "Workshops - as a tourism destination in border areas", funded under the 2021-2027 European Neighborhood Instrument Interreg VI-A Lithuania-Poland Cross-Border Cooperation Programme.
